Hey There
Thank you for being interested in the technology behind Snapglot!
Our Technology

Snapglot combines cutting-edge Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to bring real-world language learning to life. When users take a photo of text—whether it’s a street sign, a food label, or a book passage—the app uses OCR to accurately detect and extract the words. But instead of translating everything at once, Snapglot allows users to highlight only the words they don’t understand. These words are then translated using advanced language models that consider the full sentence context, ensuring that the translation reflects the correct meaning based on how the word is used.
What sets Snapglot apart is its use of contextual memory. The app doesn’t just show translations; it stores unfamiliar words and automatically creates personalized quizzes using the original sentences the user encountered. This sentence-based recall reinforces learning through real-life associations, making vocabulary easier to remember and more relevant to each user. This learning loop—snap, translate, quiz—transforms passive translation into active retention, offering a smarter alternative to flashcards or generic word lists.
First versions would be built on top of Readlang, which allows dynamic word-level translation and spaced repetition learning. Snapglot enhances this foundation by introducing a mobile experience powered by the camera and designed for on-the-go learners. You will need Readlang subscription to translate words using full sentence context.
